Kelvin Kwamena Mensah is passionate about conservation and holds a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management, earned from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geo-Information Science for Natural Resource Management to strengthen his expertise in spatial analysis and sustainable ecosystem management.
His professional journey includes working as a national service personnel and an intern with the CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana, where he contributed to forest cover analysis, species inventory, and climate change research, as well as hands-on roles in amphibian husbandry and monitoring within captive breeding programs.
Kelvin engages his skill set combining GIS and remote sensing (ArcMap), biodiversity monitoring, habitat mapping, and ecotourism development to support Herp Ghana’s conservation efforts. His experience spans project coordination, captive breeding program support, and ecotourism setups including design of immersive conservation experiences, such as canopy walkways, outdoor learning activities.
Kelvin’s work bridges science, education, and eco-development, ensuring that conservation efforts remain sustainable and community-driven. His motivation is rooted in a desire to connect biodiversity protection with tangible benefits for local people. His passion is held by the belief that protecting biodiversity is not only about science – it's about people, place, and purpose. He is excited about continuously learning and contributing to innovative, locally grounded conservation initiatives in Ghana and beyond.
